Commemoratives (Classic and Modern)
Since 1892 United States commemorative coins are a special series of coins that celebrate and honor various people, events, and institutions that have made significant contributions to American history and culture. These coins are legal tender, but their face value is often significantly less than their intrinsic value due to their limited mintage, high demand, and unique designs. Commemorative coins come in a variety of denominations, such as silver dollars, half dollars, and gold coins.
